Venus and Serena Williams Shine at Vogue World 2024 in Paris
Long before athletes graced the front rows of fashion weeks, Venus and Serena Williams were trailblazing the fusion of sports and style. At Vogue World 2024 in Paris, the iconic sisters showcased their unique fashion sense by walking in the tennis-themed segment of the show.

Venus Williams, known for her impeccable style both on and off the court, shared her passion for fashion with Vogue. “I’ve always had a love for fashion, and throughout my tennis career, that affinity grew even more,” Venus explained. “To perform your best, you need to feel your best; what you wear is so important in tennis.”
In a tribute to her illustrious tennis career, Venus wore a custom piece by Marine Serre, crafted from repurposed tennis bags. Serre, who once aspired to a career in tennis before turning to fashion, explained, “This piece is a heartfelt tribute to my sporting roots. Tennis bags were an integral part of my attire for years and have profoundly shaped my approach to fashion.” The structured silhouette featured body-contouring panels, piping, and embroidery from the original bags, created over hundreds of hours in the Paris atelier.
“Venus epitomizes female empowerment and strength,” Serre continued, praising Venus for being the first Black player to reach the number one world ranking and for advocating for equal prize money. “Venus represents the archetype of womanhood that I want to celebrate every day through my label.”
Venus admired Serre’s commitment to sustainability and was thrilled with the custom design. “Marine absolutely killed the look,” she said. “She really embodied femininity, athleticism, and chicness all in one. And most importantly, it makes me feel empowered and confident.”
The excitement of the event was amplified by the presence of Serena Williams, who joined Venus on the runway in a custom Off-White ensemble by Ib Kamara. Kamara aimed to honor Serena’s iconic career with a dress featuring a sport jersey top and a silk georgette skirt.

“The gown represents Serena’s career through Off-White’s sports aesthetic,” Kamara explained. The graphics on the dress were a mix of Off-White codes and looks that Serena previously wore during her games, with “QUEEN OF QUEENS” printed prominently on the white paneling.
Kamara shared his admiration for Serena, stating, “I have the most vivid memory of watching Serena win a match and my sisters and me being so inspired by a Black woman being so visible and so powerful.”
Venus summed up the night perfectly, expressing her joy walking alongside her sister. “Every time I get to work with my sister it’s always the best. I’ve been so lucky to have her by my side for the most special moments throughout my career.”
