The Rocksteady Ballroom of the AC Hotel was transformed into a runway of regal elegance and innovative designs on Sunday, April 28th, as the highly anticipated “Spring into Fashion” charity event, hosted by the Canadian Women’s Club of Jamaica, unfolded.

The night began with a vibrant cocktail hour sponsored by CPJ Bar and Häagen-Dazs, where guests donned their most stunning attire for the occasion. As the festivities commenced, fashion show coordinator and compère Joan McDonald led the audience on a captivating journey through the world of Jamaican fashion.
Emerging and Established Designers Showcase Collections
Ackelia Caine’s “Trendzy” collection kicked off the evening with vibrant African prints, followed by the awe-inspiring creations from the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts’ textile department. T&T Fashions, Tamia Carey Collection, and House of Fennel all presented captivating collections, showcasing both breathtaking womenswear and sophisticated menswear.
Activewear, Casual Comfort, and Luxe Designs
Adding a touch of modern functionality to the runway was Denise Katz’s activewear and swimwear line, while Janseen Graham’s “Endlesz Designs” offered a luxurious take on casual comfort. Hope Wade Designs transported the audience to Africa with their “Nature of Africa” collection, while Heather Laine presented a timeless black and white ensemble. Aviola Accessories’ exquisite jewelry complemented each look, and the show-stopping fascinators added a touch of whimsical flair.
A Touch of Vintage and Celebrity Appearances
A special “A Touch of Vintage” segment offered a glimpse into the iconic wardrobe of Miss World 1976, Cindy Breakspeare, alongside classic pieces from Mutamba. The night was further elevated by the presence of celebrity models, including Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica Emina Tudakovic, Miss Jamaica World 2022 Shanique Singh, and Senator Dr. Saphire Longmore.
