WiFETE and XODUS Remedy are excited to announce their partnership in creating the only authentic Soca Festival for Carnival in Jamaica 2023. This exciting collaboration brings together two of Jamaica’s biggest entertainment powerhouses to create the largest event for Carnival Saturday, April 15, in Jamaica.
XODUS REMEDY, GENXS Carnival and WIFETE MERGER
Aldwyn Wayne, CEO and Founder of WiPay and Festival Sponsor shared his vision of bringing the Trinidad Carnival Experience to Jamaica with major Soca and Dancehall headliners. He reached out to Scott Dunn of Dream Entertainment with an offer to merge the Smirnoff XODUS Remedy event with WiFETE.
Scott Dunn, Managing Director of Dream Entertainment and co-owner of XODUS, shared that two things attracted him to this event and partnership. Firstly, the event was aligned with the XODUS brand of being the biggest and the best, and secondly, there were many events happening on Carnival Saturday, but coming together would guarantee them being the biggest FETE.
Smirnoff XODUS Remedy will have its own section within the WIFETE Experience. The Remedy ticket, which includes the Envy patrons in XODUS, is valid for WiFETE. Patrons will have access to a special XODUS area that remains drink-inclusive. The road march element will be removed, but the experience will be heightened by merging both event lineups for the same price. Remedy ticket holders can also upgrade their tickets to VIP at the gate for a fraction of the cost.
Ajene Greene, Director of GenXS and co-producer of WiFETE expressed his pleasure with the partnership and spoke about the value of unity and building the Carnival in Jamaica product. The combined lineup for the event will showcase some of the biggest names in Soca and Dancehall music, including Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, The Voice, Dancehall Sensation Valiant, Agent Sasco, GBM Nutron, Nailah Blackman, and Skinny Fabulous.
WiFETE is the only Carnival in Jamaica calendar event to exclusively showcase the top three Trinidad Soca Road March song winners on one stage. Bunji Garlin with ‘Hard Fete,’ Nailah Blackman, and Skinny Fabulous with ‘Come Home,’ and Machel Montano with ‘Like Yuhself.’ Although Voice, the artiste, did not have a big Carnival song this year, his inclusion in the festival adds another highly valued artist to the lineup.
“We are excited to bring together the best of Soca and Dancehall for Jamaica’s Carnival in 2023,” said Kibwe McGann. WiFETE Director, “This collaboration creates a unique and unparalleled experience for fans. We look forward to creating an unforgettable event that will showcase the talent and energy of the Caribbean’s finest performers. As this is Jamaica, we felt it was also necessary to ensure that Reggae and Dancehall were represented. This influenced how we chose our acts and DJs.”
Valiant, Dancehall’s megastar, will add the Jamaican flare to the festival and is sure to appeal to foreign and local audiences. Agent Sasco will share the stage during Machel’s set and perform some of his major hits. Creep Chromatic, Soca JR, BOOM BOOM, and Harry Hype will complete the dancehall segment with a few surprise acts in between.
The WiFETE and Smirnoff XODUS Remedy partnership promises to deliver an unforgettable experience for Carnival enthusiasts, music lovers, and tourists from around the world. Caribbean Airlines, Red Stripe Group, and WiPay are the Festival’s major sponsors.
