Jamaica’s Premiere Lifestyle Blog Haute People will celebrate its 10th year Anniversary on September 22, 2021.
The Blog was conceptualized by Lorane Rhoden just months after leaving University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Language, Communication and Society from the University of the West Indies Mona, in 2011. Rhoden, who has a penchant for writing and a discerning Fashion sense wanted a way to merge her love for both interests. Thus, Haute People was created and the rest as they say is history.
According to Rhoden:
“ At the time, Blogging was a relatively new concept in Jamaica and I received mixed reviews when I started. People were used to Traditional Media forms such as Newspapers and were a bit sceptical about Blogs and their relevance. I also wanted to add inclusivity to the newer brands by giving them a platform as I felt their voices were not being represented. It has been a tremendous journey of lessons learned and meeting amazingly talented people.”
Haute People Celebrates 10 Years as a Lifestyle Brand
Since then, the Blog has grown to a Lifestyle brand and has amassed an international audience which accounts for 60% of its readership. Haute People is a two (2) time nominee in the South Florida Blogger Awards in the Lifestyle Category in 2016 and 2017. In 2017 and 2018 respectively, Haute People covered New York Fashion Week (NYFW) through it’s partnership with New York-based Fashion Technology brand Fashion Mingle for which Rhoden is it’s Caribbean Ambassador.
Through it’s advocacy for Brand Jamaica, Haute People has been able to expertly provide coverage for some of the Island’s most sought-after events. A few of these include: Style Week Jamaica, The Collection MoDA, Caribbean Fashion Week, Miss Universe Jamaica, Miss Jamaica World, Mission Catwalk just to name a few.
For our 10th year, we will have our “10 Days of Giveaways” with gifts from a few of our favourite local brands as a way to thank our supporters.
