In line with global developments, regional fashion weeks are in a time of reinvention. In Indiana, CFDA Connects member Indiana Fashion Foundation (IFF) is gearing up for the second annual Indiana Fashion Week (INDFW), from August 14-21 and featuring diverse events and activations designed to incubate creativity, community, and commerce — all of which IFF believes to be at the core of a strong fashion community.
Indiana Fashion Week will take place at Hilbert Circle Theatre, home of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, complementing the organization’s partnership with Downtown Indy Inc. and PATTERN and bringing an immersive fashion experience to Monument Circle, the heart of Downtown Indy. Some of the week’s highlights include The Summit with panel talks featuring legendary designer Thomas “TJ” Walker of Cross Colours (L.A.) and Chicago-based designer Vic Lloyd of Fat Tiger Workshop, as well as the fashion photography gallery show titled Ensemble, featuring the work of Indiana-based photographers. INDFW also partnered with The Storefront Theatre of Indianapolis to host a soiree and trunk show celebrating 2019 Emerging Designer Competition winner Jenn Felts of Tokyo Twiggy. This event is hosted by and also marks the official launch of IFF’s new membership community, The Fashion Connect.

New York City-based designer Rinat Brodach – a featured contestant on Season One of Amazon Prime’s Making the Cut – will headline the culminating runway show along with eight Midwest designers participating in the INDFW Emerging Designer Competition. The night will also showcase Jenn Felts and Tokyo Twiggy on the runway. Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA, will attend as a featured guest and a judging panelist for the 2021 Emerging Designer Competition.
We congratulate our CFDA Connects Leadership Committee members, Denisha “Dlang” Ferguson and Michael Weston, with the Indiana Fashion Foundation on continuing their mission to bridge the gap between fashion-focused initiatives and economic power.
“The talent and resources are here, and fashion is an innovative way to connect us all,” said Denisha “Dlang” Ferguson, IFF Founder and CEO. “Over 200 professionals and creatives are joining together to bring the 2021 events, which create the stage to showcase the creatives, while building synergistic partnerships with local businesses and organizations to enrich the creative economy.”
