Have you ever asked yourself If you actually loved your job? When you ask that question, do you give yourself an honest answer?
It has dawned on me recently that It’s possible that we all hate our jobs! Sure there are exceptions to every rule and there are some people who actually love their job and find joy doing what they do. For those people, we must commend and strive to find that bliss of working that they have so expertly discovered.
If you hate your job, it could be linked to an underlying issue or you are just not meant to work for people. Could you be an entrepreneur who is moonlighting as a salaried employee? The Universe keeps telling you in so many ways “this is not for you” and you keep fighting against everything because of “fear” and the security of a paycheck. If you truly hate your job, here are a few things to consider:
Do we All Hate our Jobs? It’s Possible!
Do your Best Work
Ok, so I know this is not the first thing you would like to hear on this type of post, but let’s be real! Instead of complaining about how much you hate your job why not commit to doing the best work! This is of course easier said than done, but if you ask yourself if you are really doing the best you can and if you are trying the hardest the answer would be no.
Change Your Perspective or Career
It’s always good to have a different perspective on things. If there is a friend or co-worker you’ve known for a while and trust ask them how you are at work and if you seem different. Truth is, something when people tell us how they see things, we too might see things in a different light. Is there a time you had a difficult situation where you might have come off as difficult or even emotional?
Talk to Someone about it
Talking to something that is affecting you deeply can be a great way to offload a lot of pressure. Make sure this is someone you trust and be very careful what you tell them and when you do. People are fickle and have their struggles and you don’t want to be a burden. Talking to someone is always good, it’s always nice to get feedback.
Have the Tough Conversation
There comes a time in life when we need to dig deep and ask ourselves the hard questions. Is this the job for me? If I quit today how will I survive the next few months? Or you could always request a meeting with your boss or even HR to make them more aware of the situation — there is no way for people to know about things if you don’t tell them. Let them know how you feel about the current role and how they could help you to make things easier.
Access the Situation
It might just be time for you to leave sis! Sometimes we need to take a step in faith rather than fear and hoping that we’ll land on our feet when we do. Please, whatever you do, always have a plan! If you feel like you hate your job, it didn’t happen overnight, start looking at other options in other fields. On the other side of this, you could have too much on your plate and might need help! How about getting an assistant or intern to help with the workload. Whatever, you do, carefully access the situation before you do anything that could have long term effects.
If you are in a position where you hate your job, please do not quit without a plan unless you already have something to fall back on. Be of good courage, be realistic, have faith and hope. Consider the tips above and see if they help you with your current situation.
