I can truly say for the first time, I have been a bad Blogger! Since I started this blog 8 years ago, I’ve never missed a beat as it relates to Blog Posts. Whether things are bad or good in my life, I’ve always posted. This year however has been challenging (at work) which saw me working on nights and weekends and the Blog suffered as a result. My last post was earlier in December which is not how we generally do things around here.
With that being said, I thought it makes sense to check-in and explain why I was absent and our plans for 2021 for the Haute People brand. If this is something you are interested in, keep reading.
What Happened to Haute People? 2021 Goals
- Going back to Daily Blogging: Yes! we will go back to daily Blogging. I must admit this is a bit daunting as once you’ve been consistent and suddenly stop doing something, it is hard getting things back on track. This means I will have to plan ahead and go back to using a Content Calendar and other content management systems.
- Exciting New Features: Can you say “New Year, New Features”? We will be dropping new features that will eventually become staples that we will run along with our current features like “Behind the Seams”. This is to of course attract a new + younger audience and appeal to them in a real way and tell their stories.
- Open our “Shop”: If you look on this blog, you will notice we have a page called “Shop”. The Shop page will be home to a few of our products and services that we will be rolling out periodically in 2021. This will be a mix of digital and physical services so you can be more included in our journey. These will be priced to suit our market (reasonably priced) and will fit the current time but will add value to your lives.
- More Video Content: Video is at an all-time high and of course we plan to capitalize on that! We will be rolling out video series on IGTV @haute_people and eventually YouTube but please do not hold me to YouTube. I believe in taking things one step at a time and going at my own pace so that will come in time.
- The Haute People Internship Program: Starting an Internship Program was something I’ve always wanted to do for a few years. The purpose of my Internship program however is not to use people for their skills and time but give back to them to help them grow in their respective areas by sharing my knowledge and skills with them. When I just started Blogging, I had to figure things out myself and there were limited books and programs on how to do this so this is truly me giving back my time. In 2020, we saw the rise of unconventional jobs like “Blogger”, “Social Media Manager”, “Influencer”, and other jobs that did not exist a few years ago, and I really, really want to do my part by helping the generation after me to be equipped with the skills they need to be successful at these jobs.
These are of course more general goals I have for the blog as I’m a private person, I’ve kept others that are more intentional and will take a lot more time and investment to myself to protect my energy and ideas. Head on over to @haute_people to watch the full video on IGTV.
