One of the most asked questions I get is “What do you do for a Living”. This, of course, is understandable as people might think I’m a Full-time Blogger I was at one point but I decided last April to go back into working “out” of the Family Business and Blogging so here we are.
It was just last April 2019 that I went back into a “traditional” work structure as an Account Manager at an Advertising Agency and it has been quite interesting, to say the least. If you are interested in learning all about my job as an Account Manager, keep reading as I take you on a magical carpet ride.
Before we get into the heart of things, I will be discussing the topics below. You can read all these or skim through the one that interests you the most:
- What is an Account Manager
- Job Description ( what I do )
- Qualifications + Skills
What is an Account Manager?
An account manager is the business representative with whom a client has the most one-on-one interaction within a company. Companies use account managers to ensure that customers feel that their needs are being met.
What I do for a Living as An Account Manager
This simply means that I get to communicate with the clients on a regular basis to find out what their needs are for each job or project and to ensure those needs are met in a professional or timely manner. No day is ever the same and I must admit that’s what makes things special! I’ll have a day when things are more administrative and I’m responding to messages and emails and there are days that are chaotic and fast-paced where I’m at a photo shoot or video shoot and there is just a lot going in. If you are planning on working in this field, communication is key this can be but not limited to; written and oral. There is a way how emails are written and also how you speak to clients. In a way, you are doing your best to finesse each client so they continue doing business with you but! Always remember to keep things professional.
Job Description
This is the fun part! I’ll just list these for ease of reference so you can quickly and easily skim through ( just like you did above)
- Generate sales among client accounts, including upsetting and cross-selling
- Operates as the point of contact for assigned customers
- Develops and maintains long-term relationships with accounts
- Makes sure clients receive requested products and services in a timely fashion

- Identifies opportunities to grow business with existing clients
- Coordinate with staff members working on the same account to ensure consistent service
- Collaborates with the sales team to reach prospective clients
- Service multiple clients concurrently, often meeting deadlines
- Keep records of client transaction
Qualification + Skills
- First Degree BA/BS in Communication, Marketing or Similar or Certification in Digital Marketing or Advertising
- Proven Track Record working in Client Servicing Management
- Client-Focused Solutions Experience
- Project Management Skills
- Ability to Communicate Client Needs with Staff
- Talent for Influencing Client Management
- Ability to Manage Multiple Projects and Relationships Simultaneously
- Negotiation Skills, Listening Skills, Communication Skills, Presentation Skills, Time Management Skills
This is an exciting job, but I won’t paint a fake picture and say It’s always sunshine and roses. Depending on the company you work with, it can be the best job you ever had and it can also be the worst job you ever had. If this is something you truly love you will do really well! Go in like a sponge and try to learn as much as you can take a few courses along the way so you can grow and move up quickly, then move on! Digital Marketing is quite broad and wide and being an Account Manager is just one of the jobs you can do.

Hi there this is kind of of off topic but I was wanting to know if
blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with
HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding know-how
so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
