Cynthia Rowley SS21 – The Show Must Go On

It’s Day 3 of New York Fashion Week and the designs keep getting better! Since we were not able to go to the shows physically, we are bringing the shows to you from the comfort of our home to your smart device!

Today, Cynthia Rowley says “The Show Must Go On” in her Spring/Summer 2021 Collection. The Designer known for “shaking things up” wanted to do something in the moment and opted for a “Fashion Film” to showcase her Collection. The film was shot along 7th Avenue, where Socially Distanced Diners got an eyeful of the Playful Collection.

Models were seen dancing to ” It Doesn’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got a Swing ) performed by local group the East Village All-Stars, as they were smartly dressed in an assortment of pretty dresses, new wetsuits, comfy but cool sporty sets (an adorable cropped navy sweatshirt and matching trouser), silk scarves, a debut of sneakers and more.  It was a juxtaposition of Streetwear meets Glam and Rowley pulled this off effortlessly! I loved how she paired sneakers (trainers) with beautiful dresses and metallic Jackets.

“I wanted to do something really in the moment, what’s relevant and happening in our lives and culture. Capturing this moment, right now…these restaurants, in some cases, thought they were going to be out of business and they scraped together whatever it took to build these outdoor spaces,” Rowley stated. “That’s what ‘New York Strong’ is. That’s what people did to survive and to create a cultural moment, lift our spirits and bring happiness to the city.”

In light of the recent changes due to COVID-19 that saw many Creative Businesses having to close down their businesses, Rowley found a way to keep her business afloat by pivoting just at the right time. In this new move, she has taken on a business model that sees her moving forward with shortened delivery cycles, working three months ahead rather than the calendar’s six.
