We are on to Day 2 of NYFW, The Digital Edition and we are excited to show a few pieces from the Badgley Miscka Spring -Summer 2021 Collection! Before we go any further, we will be hand-picking the Designers we showcase on this platform as we want to ensure there is diversity !!
Escapism is playing out in many New York collections this season, and who can blame designers for that direction? After six months of staying at home, we’re all ready for some R & R from this challenging moment with a sojourn at some exotic locale.
BADGLEY MISCHKA SPRING-SUMMER 2021
For Mark Badgley and James Mischka, this sentiment worked its way into their spring collection, which, according to the collection statement, was inspired by “the isles of Greece, the capital of Cuba, the fabled ruins of Mexico, the Garden of Good and Evil,” according to the collection statement. “We have so many places still to see, and tried to preview them with this collection.”
How does a brand with special occasions at its core – think weddings, red carpet – deal with the current realities of a few in-person celebrations? Badgley and Mischka doubled down on what they do best with a little more casual hand: elegant evening wear, from a gown with a lace top and floral and paisley full skit to patterned caftans, all in colors inspired by their dream destinations.
The overall vibe was celebratory in a long kind of way. As the duo put it, “These are clothes meant to comfort us while we are at home, and to celebrate when we can.”
What were some of your favorite looks from this collection and how would you wear these pieces? Would you wait for a special occasion? Or wear them “just because”?
