Hi Guys,
Welcome to the first episode of “Making the Band” which will be an ongoing series here on Haute People. With this new series, I will be taking you “Behind the Scenes” as I grow + scale the Haute People brand. Today, we will be looking at the new Logo and why you need a Logo for your Business and how I came to the final decision of selecting the Logo.
Making the Brand: Episode #1 | Creating a Logo
The right logo says everything without saying a word. It connotes feelings of honor, trust, pride, excellence and integrity. – Forbes Magazine
Haute People is in the middle of a full re-brand! What that means is I’ve torn down and torn apart the brand and is starting over from scratch, which includes the overall look and feel of the brand. After being a Digital Marketing Professional for over a year I’ve learned a lot and have decided to experiment and apply as much as I can to my Business. The first thing I did was purchase a new domain and switched from Blogger to WordPress which has so far been amazing. The next thing on my agenda was the logo as it does not resonate with where the brand is currently and it literally made no sense. A co-worker from a previous job did it as a favor in 2013 for which I’m grateful, but it no longer suits the brand!
I believe a logo should clearly explain what the brand is about and should be something that should attract interest in the brand and should serve as a symbol of success and a commitment to the customer.
The New Logo
I wanted the new logo to be simple yet edgy as that is the brand aesthetic that still has our Brand Colours (Black, White, and Salmon Pink ) that when people see it they get a sense of a low-key luxury brand that offers high-quality content and services. I wanted 2 different fonts; block letters in black and another font that complimented the first font that was more subtle.
Here are a few designs I communicated to the very talented Designer who brought my vision to life and in no time came up with options! I would recommend doing some research and try to find ideas and examples of how you would like your logo to look as it is your brand’s “face”.
A Logo is the fulfillment of a partnership between a business owner and a graphic designer, whose collaboration is an act of communication and whose final design is the result of discussions about what the logo should do. You need a logo for your business because it tells your brand’s story without saying a word. There are 7 types of logos:
- Monogram logos (or letter marks)
- Wordmarks (or logotypes) Similar to a letter mark, a wordmark or logotype is a font-based logo that focuses on a business’s name alone. …
- Pictorial marks (or logo symbols) …
- Abstract logo marks. …
- Mascots. …
- The combination mark. …
- The emblem
The logo I chose is the Wordmark style of logo: It clearly states the name “Haute People” in bold block letters. Now that you have an idea of what a logo is and the different types of Logos, what type of logo will you choose for your business?
