“Each one of us has our own motivations, our own inspiration, and our own ideas of what success means — something they’re “In It” for. “It is work and everything associated with work”.

A lot can happen in a year is an expression I’ve heard a lot in my “adult life”.

As always, I thought this was an expression for those privileged few who always seem to get what they want because they were already connected to people who would give them access to the things that could in fact “change their lives in a year”!

This expression became real in April of 2019 when I decided to “change my life” and the rest, as they say, is history! I’ve been Blogging professionally for several years where this was my main source of income and though it was fun and interesting I wanted a “real job” in the Creative Industry. I have all these skills I’ve learned in my years of Blogging and I wanted to share those with a company that had clients who could benefit from those skills. I took at hard look at where I was, the Industry I wanted to work in and even the salary I wanted to make.

I began my search on my trusted LinkedIn and I applied to a few jobs through the platform where I landed a few interviews and said “yes” to a job that fit where I was in life and where I saw my self in the next year!

With this new role, I was able to share my passion for writing or “copy” as it is called in this Industry, work with a team and clients and most importantly tell “Lifestyle Stories” for these brands that really mattered!

There was a learning curve involved where I had to work on my people skills, how to craft professional emails, working with a team while still accomplishing all my daily tasks and staying organized. It is almost a year later and I can tell you if it was not for LinkedIn I would not have found my specific job which has grown into my career! If you are interested in creating a LinkedIn account which is highly recommended for professionals in any field! Check out the steps below to sign up.

  2. In the Search jobs field, type a job title, keyword, or company name. Keep in mind that you can use Boolean search modifiers to help refine your job search.
  3. You can use the Search location field to type a city name, state/province/territory name, or country name. Your desired location may be pre-filled for you, but it can be updated by typing a different one into the textbox. A dropdown list will appear where you can select your desired location.

Once, you’ve signed up for a LinkedIn account, you will be prompted to add your Resume. This helps as you can select the “Easy Apply” option when searching for jobs since your Resume will already be there. This is one of my favorite features, as it saves time! I don’t have to keep uploading my Resume multiple times based on the number of jobs I apply to.
