The Holidays are here! which means people are traveling across the world to see their families and a large percentage of these people will have to go through airports! With the change and new laws with traveling, it can be quite intimidating and less than fun for people. We here at Haute People are all about traveling in style and we’ve found a few ways on how to look good while traveling and still being TSA friendly.

Keep reading if you would like to learn more!

A Comfy Outfit

})();

I remember when I was much younger and would travel overseas, I would be dressed to the nines with all my accessories and the highest heel. Yes! I was that girl. Fast-forward to today where I’ve learned that less is more. Opt for simple or no jewelry or accessories, stay away from belts if you can as they will have to be removed and stick to jeans or garments that only have two pockets. The simpler your outfit, the quicker you will get through TSA as you will have less to take off and put on. There are brands that specialize in stylish yet travel-friendly outfits or you can make your own by opting for a pair of joggers a sleek pair of jeans with a comfy top — I like to stick to one color scheme so I have that minimalistic monochrome vibe that looks more put together.

Chic Luggage

Can Luggage be chic? Yes, it can! Your luggage is a big part of your trip and there are so many choices to select from! There are ones that are Hardcase which is pretty popular, some that have prints and bright and colors. I like to match my luggage sets or if they are mismatched the colors compliment each other. I would recommend staying away from “smart luggage” that has charging ports for electronics as these might affect the airplane’s navigation system and I’ve found that some of them rarely make it through TSA checks.

Organized Packing

This is where it gets a bit … crazy yet fun! If you’ve never known this about me I have an A-type Personality! I like it when things are well organized and put in their specific place and they must make sense where they are placed! phew! I have a lot of female stuff –hair, make-up, toiletries and sometimes basic cleaning supplies. For these items, I opt for a clear ziplock bag or sometimes a more budget-friendly option are large sandwich bags. This is great for TSA as they are able to scan the items easily and if they open the bags they see everything right away! This helps you as well as it keeps things intact and protects things from spilling on your clothes. Another tip here if you are really organized like me, is to label all your items in one specific color! Again, this takes time but it saves you so much time! When you get to your destination you just take the clear bag out that was already grouped by category and you can use it right away.

Travel Pouch

I cannot stress this enough! Being organized saves you so much time and even money. Whether you are a frequent traveler or a first-time traveler, I recommend a travel pouch. This pouch should be big enough to hold your Passport and other relevant travel necessities and it should not be bulky and fit easily in your bag. There is nothing more annoying than that one person delaying others behind them because they are searching for their travel documents.

TSA Pre-Check

This available for US Citizens, Nationals and LPRs. There is a yearly membership of $85 that allows you to speed through security and you don’t have to remove your shoes, laptops, liquids, belts and light jackets. If you fall into this category, this saves so much time and stress
