Restaurant Week 2019 Presents Eats with a Beat

Food and Music are always a great pairing and this was evident at the Restaurant Week event dubbed as “Eats with a Beat” held Tuesday last at Redbones Rooftop at R Hotel.

As we made our way to the 5th floor, we seemed to have been whisked away from the hustle and bustle of earlier in the day to what felt like a slice of heaven … on the roof! The dimly lit space with expertly placed rose vases on each table with dim lights with hues of reds and yellows gave the indication that we were in for a night of great live performances and of course great food.

The evening got started with Restaurant Week conceptualizer Stephanie Scott giving an overview of the event and sang her praises for the tremendous support she has received for 15 years! Yes, Restaurant Week is proudly celebrating 15 years and continues to grow each year to include new parishes and restaurants which give diners the chance to afford discount Restaurant prices.

Sarah Couch
Next up was the first performance of the night by the talented Singer, Composer, Producer and Chef Sarah Couch with her popular single “Ochi to Mobay” which has sultry jazz tones and a mello reggae beat. This was the perfect song to get the night started which was perfectly paired with cocktails from Select Brands and the perfect bite-size portions from The Best Dressed Chicken that was delectable! My favorite was the Callaloo Bruschetta with a Mushroom base and cheddar cheese sprinkled on top.

The other featured performers of the night included Mario Evon, Sherita and a special performance from UK baked artiste Aysha Loren.

Eats with a Beat was a great event that whetted my appetite and got me excited for what is to come for Restaurant Week 2019 from November 8-17.  Check the Jamaica Gleaner to see this year’s participating Restaurants.
