The Caribbean’s Mecca of Style, Kingston Jamaica is poised for another exciting Fashion Season for the 15th staging of Style Week Jamaica 2019.
Style Week Jamaica is organized by the leading model agency in the Caribbean SAINT International. The event will be held from May 15 – 19 and promises to be even more spectacular than last year as the agency will be bringing in the team from the Fashion Institute of Technology who will play an integral role in the Fashion Symposium event. This year the Embassy of Nigeria under the patronage of Her Excellency Janet Omoleegho Olisa Ambassador of Nigeria to Jamaica has retained its partnership with the Saint brand where they assisted a young model discovered on Instagram to live her dream of becoming a model and “make magic” as described by Saint International Principal Deiwght Peters.
This year, there will be an emphasis on putting Jamaica’s creative talent on the map through their partnership with Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) by providing talented designers will the necessary resources they need to be successful and stand among some of the world’s most successful and well-known Fashion Designers.
According to JBDC’s Deputy CEO, Harold Davis at the recent launch on the Rooftop of Eden Gardens Wellness Resort & Spa:

medianet_height = “90”;
medianet_crid = “185308422”;
medianet_versionId = “111299”;
(function() {
var isSSL = ‘https:’ == document.location.protocol;
var mnSrc = (isSSL ? ‘https:’ : ‘http:’) + ‘//contextual.media.net/nmedianet.js?cid=8CU3G4D0M’ + (isSSL ? ‘&https=1’ : ”);
document.write(”);
})();
This year JBDC has committed to working on the development of the creative economy mapping for Jamaica — the UK is able to track value and we want to be able to do that and the 1st step is to promptly map the industry, the players in the industry and the infrastructure in the industry. We are committed with the support of the partners of Style Week — the Fashion Industry is a critical Industry. We have a robust Fashion Industry program at JBDC where we take emerging designers and emerging fashion entrepreneurs as well as experienced ones and we supply them with good business practices and to work out a plan for success.
Style Week Jamaica is not just about glitz and glamour but also showcasing the talents of amateur Designers to give them a chance to present their designs to the Jamaican Fashion Industry and prepare them for future careers in the Business of Fashion. On the Runway this year are:
Romaine Dixon, Tevin Steele, Kimali Morgan, Tami Williams, Wayne Booth, Brad Allen, Naki DePass, Barbra Lee Grant, Jonny B, Jermaine Downer, Christina Knight and more!
The event also showcases Kingston as a place that is more than just a place to work and combines it’s unique mystique and highlights the beauty and value of the city as a desirous place for Fashion similar to what New York City represents for the rest of the world. Each event is held at a different location across Kingston each night which ties into the theme of that particular event.
On the itinerary for Style Week Jamaica 2019 is:

- A Career in International Fashion Symposium
