“Highlighting Creativity — Recognizing talent ” are the words used to describe the Sterling Gospel Music Awards. This is a one of a kind event in Jamaica that rewards exceptional contributors to the growing and successful Gospel Music Industry spearheaded by Basillia Barnaby-Cuff former Media personality of Love 101 and UCC Radio.

Last Saturday, the Blue Mountain Suite at the Knutsford Hotel in Kingston was the preferred venue for the event which had its previous home in Manchester. The event saw some of Gospel Music’s most popular names in attendance including LtStitchie, Carlene Davis & Tommy Cowan and Kevin Downswell just to name a few. Guests began arriving promptly at 7pm for their chance to walk the red carpet and stayed true to this year’s theme of Royally supporting our Legends” as they were stylishly decked in their Gold and black attire.

As the clock struck 8:39pm the event opened with a tremendous performance from Oshane Mais who thrilled the audience with a powerful performance of his hit single “Forever”. Soon after, we were introduced to the M.C of the evening Markland “Action” Edwards who was styled in a navy-blue, paisley printed velvet blazer who got things underway with the first award of the night. Taking home the first award in the category EP of the Year was Jim Radical for his “Higher Calling” EP. The New-York based artiste Kandida was next with a performance that was light-hearted and warmed up the audience with her “Sunshine” performance. Other winners of the night include:
