5 Careers You Should Consider in Beauty Business

Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr
Under the influence of mass media, beauty standards are becoming higher. Therefore, many profitable jobs can be found in the beauty industry.

Reasons for pursuing a career of a beautician are numerous – not only is it becoming the highest paying profession, but it also doesn’t require a university education. The courses you need to finish last much shorter so it is a fast track to getting employment.

If you are considering a career in the beauty business, take a look at some interesting jobs that are in high demand.

1. Hairdresser

A good hairdresser is a necessity either for those who might just need a haircut once in a while or those who require an appointment twice a week for a flawless hairstyle. That means that, if you choose this career, you will always have customers. Naturally, you need to become very good at what you do. So, the first step is to look for a salon that is offering a trainee position. Once you finish the training course and get a certificate, you can either choose who to work for or, even better, become self-employed. A good hairdresser is said to earn around $50K per year, so this is definitely a profitable career.

2. Nail Technician

Having neat and tidy nails is a reflection of a well-groomed person who looks after her/himself. Many people nowadays have a busy lifestyle and they don’t have time to do their own nails. Besides, it is always better to turn to a professional if you want a job to be perfectly done. Manicurists are also always in demand. In order to become one, you will need to take a course, which is usually 3 to 9 months long. Once you obtain a license, you are ready to set up your own business and grow your clientele. The better you are, the more customers you will have and you can expect to earn between $20K and $30K per year.

})();

3. Permanent make-up artist

The popularity of permanent make-up artists skyrocketed with the appearance of microblading. Microblading is a recent trend of brow treatment. It is popular because it makes eyebrows look natural and trendy. It is also semi-permanent, so there is no regret if in the future the trend changes and something new comes along. If you decide to become a permanent make-up artist, the first thing you need is, of course, a good microblading training. Choosing a skillful and reputable master artist as well as having a chance to practice on live models is very important. Also, getting a certificate from a well-known academy is a great stepping stone for your future success.  A good permanent make-up artist earns approximately $55,000 to $80,000.

4. Skincare specialist

Going to a skincare specialist has become as mandatory as a visit to a dentist – at least twice a year. Cleansing facial treatment will keep your face skin fresh and clean. Besides that, there are other treatments such as anti-aging treatment popular with people who want to slow down aging. Also, for those who struggle with acne and problematic skin, more complicated treatments are required. A job of a skin technician is also a profitable one since you can earn $40 000 per year. However, there are some investments to be made if you want to be self-employed. First of all, you need to complete a course, which usually lasts for 6 months (full-time). In addition, you need to get the equipment, which can be a little bit expensive. However, since the demand for estheticians will only go up, expect your investment to pay off.

5. Beauty blogger

People first started using blogs for personal interests, but nowadays the popularity of blogging for business purposes has been significantly increasing. The leaders are beauty bloggers who promote advertising content. The more influential they are on social networks, the more clients they will have. However, this is not an easy job, and it usually takes some time before you become successful. You need to be creative and have distinctive and unique content on your blog in order to attract your audience (readers or viewers, or even Instagram followers). If you manage to become a successful blogger, expect your earnings to go up to $50 000 a year. Also, you do not have to invest in courses and equipment – a good camera and your computer are quite enough. Creativity and uniqueness are what counts here.

Beginnings are not easy so, whatever career you choose, be prepared to work hard until you become great at what you do.
