There I was scrolling through my Facebook feed last night when I saw “Guys requesting Pre-dates” in 2019. Without even reading the article in its entirety, I immediately decided this would be a great topic to talk about just to see how our readers would respond.
I agree with this new dating concept! First off, it’s nice to hear the word date in 2019 as this became quite obsolete since the emergence of those pesky dating apps –your next love interest was a click or swipe away. Thing is, so many things can go wrong when people commit to a full-on date-date.
Here are a few reasons why I agree with pre-dates.
It saves time + money
medianet_width = “728”;
medianet_height = “90”;
medianet_crid = “185308422”;
medianet_versionId = “111299”;
(function() {
var isSSL = ‘https:’ == document.location.protocol;
var mnSrc = (isSSL ? ‘https:’ : ‘http:’) + ‘//contextual.media.net/nmedianet.js?cid=8CU3G4D0M’ + (isSSL ? ‘&https=1’ : ”);
document.write(”);
})();
I’m assuming a pre-date would be something casual and inexpensive like getting coffee or ice cream and maybe going dutch. If you meet up with the person and they are not a match or just a complete user, it stops there! On a date-date, you would have to painstakingly sit there for hours thinking of an escape plan and also wonder who will pick up the check.
It’s like Speed Dating
Like speed dating .. you get to meet several people at a time and it’s up to you to continue or not. Depending on the nature of the date you could even score a few free meals back to back and who doesn’t love that?
You get to be Honest
medianet_width = “728”;
medianet_height = “90”;
medianet_crid = “185308422”;
medianet_versionId = “111299”;
(function() {
var isSSL = ‘https:’ == document.location.protocol;
var mnSrc = (isSSL ? ‘https:’ : ‘http:’) + ‘//contextual.media.net/nmedianet.js?cid=8CU3G4D0M’ + (isSSL ? ‘&https=1’ : ”);
document.write(”);
})();
Millennials are not about wasting time on things that are not beneficial to us or in this case, things that might not even work out. Who remember the days of going out on a date then doing that “phone tango” dance where you wonder if it’s too soon to call back while the other person is wondering if they should call at all. A Pre-date will eliminate all that! If you like the person, naturally you’d want to see them again, if not.. they can get to stepping and you keep it moving.
I know the big discussion on Twitter is all about guys taking girls on pre-dates to see if they are “worth” it –BUT! We have to remember that guys have their list of things they look for in women too and if you are not it sis, why should he waste all that time on a Lobster meal to prove you are not a match?
