What to Wear to Restaurant Week 2018

Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr

Another Restaurant Week is here in Jamaica — You’ve received your flyer of all the restaurants, mapped out the ones you really want to try. There is, however, one tiny problem, you have no idea what to wear!

We here at The Haute Lifestyle know a thing or two about dressing for occasions and we thought we would share some of our tips on what to wear to Restaurant Week 2018.

To get things started, we’ll be breaking down the outfits by the Restaurant Week Categories:

Tasty JMD $1,850 + Savoury JMD $2,800

Jamaican based Designer + Illustrator Natasha in her dressy casual as seen at the recent Collection Moda 2018 Launch

These categories offer a more relaxed, casual and chill vibe so you would opt for outfits that are dressy-casual. Casual in this case does not mean flip-flops and a tank top, but a nice pair of jeans (for both men and women) a very simple dress, a nice skirt and a nice pair of shoes. To take these looks a step up from casual, you will need to accessorize– a statement necklace, fringe earrings, a cocktail ring or even a nice watch can really pull the outfit together. The key is to look nice and put together without going over the top as if you were dressing for a black tie event.

#MAJORKEY –Men, try to stay away from clothing that sags or hangs that exposes your underwear. It looks super tacky and could attract the wrong type of attention. Fashion911, Loud Fashion + Lee’s Fifth Avenue are examples of places you can shop.

Delectable JMD $3,800  + Epicurean JMD $4,300

var mnSrc = (isSSL ? ‘https:’ : ‘http:’) + ‘//contextual.media.net/nmedianet.js?cid=8CU3G4D0M’ + (isSSL ? ‘&https=1’ : ”);
document.write(”);
})();
These Restaurants are a bit on the fancy side so as you can imagine, you will have to dress up quite a bit. Most Restaurants in this category will have their own rules and dress code so you could call ahead and ask what the dress code is. Think of a nice dress with a pair of heels or if you are not a heels girl a pair of Bridgette or Lucy Sandals (they are the plug so check them out) Guys! ensure you are groomed! Your grooming is your personal business, however, a fresh haircut and clean shave can make you look more polished. I would recommend a button down shirt or polo shirt, a nice belt and dark wash jeans or dress pants. Men’s fashion has improved and dress pants come in many textures and styles and are not necessarily what you would wear to work or church.

#MAJORKEY –Ladies, try to stay away from anything see-through if you go for that option ensure you have pasties, a jacket or some sort of lining. This is the classy- elegant category and you will get a lot of stares since restaurants are usually packed during the event/s. Kerrymanwomanhome, Flirt Boutique + Shop Necessi’T’s are examples of places you can shop.

Nyam & Scram -Discounted Lunch Specials

This couple is comfortably dressed in a casual dress + button-down shirt –perfect for the Nyam and Scram Category

medianet_height = “90”;
medianet_crid = “185308422”;
medianet_versionId = “111299”;
(function() {
var isSSL = ‘https:’ == document.location.protocol;
var mnSrc = (isSSL ? ‘https:’ : ‘http:’) + ‘//contextual.media.net/nmedianet.js?cid=8CU3G4D0M’ + (isSSL ? ‘&https=1’ : ”);
document.write(”);
})();
This is my favorite category as it’s a no-brainer when it comes to clothing! All you have to do is wear whatever you have on, but take something off or add something to the outfit. If you have on an outfit you consider “decent enough for the road”, but it looks a little plain, maybe add a belt or even a hat! My best trick to quickly put an outfit together is to add a duster or kimono or my fedora to the outfit. It gives off that trendy-boho vibe and made it seem like I tried without actually putting a lot of thought into it.

We hope we’ve helped with your outfit woes for Restaurant Week 2018! Be sure to try as many Restaurants as your budget will allow.
