It was just last week that I decided to give myself a break from Blogging. If you’ve been an avid reader of this Blog you would have known that I have been going strong since 2011 and never took a break.
This year I challenged myself to put out 2 Blog posts daily that are of good quality and I have been doing that –until last week. It’s not that I had nothing to Blog about, but I realized that I was just so physically and mentally tired. No, I’m not a crazy person hence the mental part, but this Blog requires me to use my “smarts” aka my brain a lot, to be a problem solver, critical thinker and be the over-all Olivia Pope of the brand.
I was just plain old tired! Last week, after putting in my daily work, the computer was off until the next day, no YouTube or last-minute emails .. the computer was just off and it felt good. Another thing I did was to go on “Airplane” mode at 8 pm each night. By turning off WI-FI I’m not tempted to respond to messages and emails or waste time on Social Media scrolling people’s feeds and having F.O.M.O (Fear of Missing Out)
Clearly, your work schedule might not be as flexible as mine is, but you need to find some way to take a break to recharge whether it’s a vacation or just a break from your devices and social media. If you are in an industry like this one, you are constantly pouring your time, energy and efforts into everyone else and at the end of the day you are so burned out that all you can do is slump into bed like a huge log and wake up feeling even more tired. I find that taking a break leaves you feeling refreshed, rested and ready to take on new challenges with a new perspective and winning spirit.
I am officially on “vacation” and will take just one day to sleep in and visit some of my favorite stores then to work I go as I need money for Christmas. #forrealforreal
