In the spirit of New York Fashion Week, we have been working hard to bring you great content if you are not able to make it to the events. While doing our research on “Jamaican Designers at New York Fashion Week“, we stumbled upon one name on the 1st Page of Google Search, Glenroy Marsh.
House of D’Marsh had its genesis in spring 2003 when designer Glenroy March launched his spring collection during Caribbean Fashion Week in Jamaica’s capital city, Kingston. This start gave rise to the pursuit of a passion by a talented Jamaican who would later go on to stun audiences not just locally but internationally.
Today, The Haute Lifestyle goes “Behind the Seams” with Glenroy Marsh, founder of D’Marsh Couture to learn all about his NYFW Collection.

THL: What is one life lesson you’ve learned thus far since establishing your Fashion brand?

GLENROY: One valuable life lesson I’ve learned so far is … you have to know who you are and have your own identity.
THL: Tell us about the collection you will be presenting at New York Fashion Week?
GLENROY: This season is inspired by the land of my birth, Jamaica, its magical attractions and all the island has to offer, including our beautiful beaches, our breathtaking waterfalls, and our scrumptious cuisine which is something visitors find alluring from around the world year after year.
As a Jamaican growing up on the island, I have always been in awe of the natural beauty and our diverse culture and attractions. I believe this collection is timely and provides an opportunity to showcase this amazing beauty through Fashion.
THL: What inspired this collection?
GLENROY: Jamaica!
THL: How do you prepare for an event like New York Fashion Week?
GLENROY: Firstly, I have to find the inspiration for the collection, then from there I begin to sketch. From there onwards I begin to put the full look together which includes makeup, hair, and accessories. The final thing is to find and secure a venue that fit the concept of the show.
THL: For up and coming Designers, how does one get to present at NYFW ( is there a registration process, through an agent, through connections etc)
GLENROY: The official way is to be a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America CFDA or be a part of a small fashion week show or do you own private show.
THL: Where can we find the pieces from the Collection?

THL: What can we expect from you in coming months?
GLENROY: I will be promoting this new collection, going to Chicago Fashion Week and I will also be traveling to St. Kitts to mentor Tailors to become Fashion Designers.
