How Your Style Affects Your Self-Confidence

There’s so much more than simply wearing all the latest fashion trends. It doesn’t matter what you’re actually wearing – if you wear your clothes and not the other way around, not only will you look a million dollars, but you will also feel confident and happy with yourself. We often dress according to how we feel. Just think about it – how many times has it happened that you got out of the bed, felt unwell and didn’t actually care how you’ll dress? What if you did this vice versa, and put on the best clothes just to brighten our mood? It’s definitely not a secret that clothes can enhance your self-confidence, but how and why.

Look good – feel good

As already mentioned, there is that circle of self-loathing whenever we feel bad; we dress badly and we feel even worse, but that doesn’t have to be the case. The first thing that anyone should make sure is they have their own personal style. This is not only important to identify who we are personally; it also shows who we are and what we are all about. The key is to use this style of yours and work against that negativity by putting your best game on. When you put effort into your appearance, you are more likely to get compliments, which will definitely brighten up your day and the overall mood. Not to mention that whenever we look in the mirror and are satisfied by what we see, we become totally different people. Finally, it can show that you can control how you feel about yourself. So, next time you’re feeling blue, put on your favorite garments, make-up, and there you go. This is some powerful stuff, isn’t it?

Accentuate your best features

On the other hand, there certainly are garments that you simply adore but they don’t actually look good on you. Certain clothes can increase our own insecurities, so it’s best to avoid them. What we should be doing is choosing one part of ourselves that we love the most, and accentuating in order to feel even better. It doesn’t really matter what body shape you own, everyone can emphasize what they like about themselves, either with a very short skirt or great plus size clothing that will look good on you. If that part of ourselves is our legs – wearing short skirts, shorts, and heels might seem like a perfect idea, as you will show the world how confident you are of them. If you have insecurities, it’s totally OK to conceal them, and you will definitely find a way to do so. Conceal your hang-ups and make a distraction by emphasizing your attributes.

Expression through art

However, be certain that your style is not only the clothes that you choose. There are other ways in which you can (and should) be different and stand out from the crowd, and one of those ways is expressing yourself and your style through art, or to be more specific tattoos. We really don’t have to mention how popular tattoos are, and that millennials all across Australia embraced this phenomenon as their defining mark, which can, later on, play a tremendous role in shaping one’s own style. If you like the ink and know how to wear tattoos as a part of your style, this is an excellent choice. You will definitely not see the same tattoo on somebody else, and simply knowing that you’re unique can do wonders not only for your style but your self-confidence as well.

What colors can do

The colors that you’re wearing can make or break any fashion outfit, and therefore your overall feeling. We respond to individual colors with certain feelings, and there surely are colors that make you even prettier and make you glow more, while there are those that make you feel tired and don’t emphasize your skin in the best way. That is why it’s always good to choose pieces of clothing in the color that really suits you. Not only will everyone be mesmerized by the way that canary yellow, for example, looks on you and how it opens up your eyes, but you will feel better as well. This, of course, takes practice. You can either make a mistake a couple of times in order to learn or sit in front of the mirror and try different color combinations and colour blocking to see what’s best for you.
If you want to dress for confidence and dress to impress, you really need to pay attention to the pieces of clothing that you’re choosing. Don’t be afraid to advertise your style and be bold. The next time you’re feeling down, just choose your best fashion combination and rock the day away!
