Just like that! The iconic event that unites Fashion Designers, Thought Leaders, Fashionistas and Media from far and wide known as Style Week Jamaica was last Monday launched on the Rooftop of Eden Gardens Wellness Resort & Spa.
The unique style of the invited guests is an embodiment of what Style Week JA represents and with the tagline “Changing Lives, Expanding Horizons” we can see why they came to relish in the excitement of the week-long series of events. The fresh-open air and upbeat tunes made for great conversations as we caught up with a few familiar faces and met some new ones. Now, with Campari pink passion cocktail in hand, we “came together” and headed to our seats as Saint International CEO Dewight Peters made his way to the stage and gave his warm, charismatic welcome and invited key sponsors to share their involvement in the event.

Dr. Damian Graham |
We were wowed by the presentation by CEO of UDC Dr. Damian Graham who showed us a vision of Kingston as a Lifestyle Hub and Fashion capital of the Caribbean with high-rise buildings and endless things to do in the city. Next up was the excited Fashion segment where we saw just a glimpse of what was to come for days ahead. We were also introduced to an extra special show dubbed as the return of City Style, being held on the waterfront of Downtown Kingston, as well as the introduction of a new component which sees SAINT partnering with the Jamaica Business Development Corporation to provide upcoming designers with an incubator to help their design process and provide a platform for them to present their creations.
We saw pieces from 8 Designers: Rico Vassell (Avant-Garde Designer of the Year 2018 ) Janseen Graham, Moses Fennel, T&T Fashion, Nina Karle, Shades of Africa, Courtney Washington, Andre Shirley and for the first time Jamaican-born Designer Caffery Van Horne whose design was inspired by his time living in Kingston.
The itinerary for this year’s Style Week 2018 is quite hectic and begins officially with the invitation-only kick-off party Posh in Black and follows with events until Saturday, May 19. With invites and outfits ready to go .. we are off to prepare for Posh in Black …
