Style Week JA 2018 | Event #4 City Style

In the early 1800’s Downtown Kingston was regarded as the great port of the Caribbean –today, it is now a part of the capital city’s commercial district where you can find just about anything from clothing to houseware.

Style Weeks 3rd Fashion event headed Downtown Kingston last Friday to the UDC Southern Car Park on Ocean Boulevard for the event dubbed as “City Style”. This was the perfect location to celebrate the UDC turning 50 years old as we were hosted by Dr. Damian Graham, CEO of UDC Jamaica.
The open-air and sea in the distance with high –rise buildings above gave a feel of a 1st world metropolitan city with exciting night-events.  The lights dimmed and out walked beautiful golden models of the “Saint Army” with beautiful headpieces and mannequin-like poses as they made their way down the runway. We could feel the beat of the city as the show began with designs from House of Fennel by Designer Moses Fennel whose collection had hints of white, gold, black and a stand out deep-V dressed modeled by Nick Cummings.

Next up was the collection by Mission Catwalk Alum Janseen Graham with his collection perfect for summer with ruffles, beautiful floral prints and the remixed yet versatile jumpsuit. Other Designers of the night included: Rico Vassell, Avant Garde Caribbean winner 2018, Mercian Copeland, Desmond Onfroy, the Queen of knitwear Nina Karle and Oshane Hines with his stand-out futuristic design concept, complete with a vintage golden sewing machine and his ode to Jamaica as he waved the Jamaican Flag proudly after his presentation.

City Style was a grand success and we look forward to taking things uptown to Style Week’s most anticipated event, Fashion Block!

Hello There ??
 —————————————————————————————————
We have a small favor to ask. People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our article takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who reads our posts, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure.
