Best Dressed at the Met Gala 2018 | Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination

The Met Gala is art personified through fashion with the bodies of celebs as vehicles that drive unique pieces designed by highly sought after designers. The Designer of the night — Versace, Versace, Versace!

With the theme revealed as Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination we saw celebrity “Best Dressed Winners” and “Worst Dressed Sinners” here we saw the juxtaposition of the holy side of the theme by Rihanna (Gala Co-Host) who wore her version of a Nun’s Habit by Maison Margiela that featured a cream bejeweled gown layered beneath a flowing overcoat. Others like Zendaya and Amal Clooney (Gala Co-Chair) looked to Joan of Arc as their inspiration while there were the Holier than though/ angelic few like Kendall Jenner and Rosie Huntington Whitley who opted for a regal, ethereal look in designs by Ralph Lauren and Virgil Bloh respectively. Let’s not forget J-Lo’s show-stopping Balmain beaded blue-black feathered gown with thigh-high slit complete a bejeweled red and blue cross and A-Rod as her arm candy also in Balmain. Not to be outdone was Madonna who gave us major “Like a Prayer” vibe and returned with her beloved Jean Paul Gaultier. Katy Perry was the epitome of heavenly with full fluttering wings by Versace. Indeed the Met Gala was a grand event and the celebs did not come to play this year. We are intrigued to see what the theme will be next year and how it will be interpreted.
