Ever since my first time at New York Fashion Week, the Designers from Asia always stood out in a major way!
Fashion shows in New York are a lot different from the ones here in Jamaica in that they are super fast! They usually run up to 7 minutes and because there are so many of them to attend you might not get the chance to truly absorb the looks! The Asian Designer I’ve seen are way ahead of their time as it relates to designs and the pieces are well constructed! In addition to all these wonderful things there is a concept behind what you see — having clothing on models coming down the runway is different from having a concept. A concept involves storytelling, sort of a beautifully dramatic opera for Fashion. When I got the Email from Fashion Mingle that they were working with with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) for their annual CENTRESTAGE runway shows my interest was piqued.

OUR FAVORITE DESIGNERS
Methodology launched its first collection in 2012 at Lane Crawford Hong Kong by designer Glori Tsui. Tsui’s background in illustration inspires her to incorporate elements of fine art paintings and experiment with contrasting materials, shapes, and forms in her collections to showcase both the femininity and toughness of a girl.
Kevin Ho is a Hong Kong-based Fashion Talent. Through merging femininity with structure, he delivers a cutting edge aesthetic for modern women.
Bettie is an eponymous fashion label that juxtaposes forward-thinking fashion narrative with traditional craftsmanship and evocative expression of refined detailing.
Yeung Chinestablished his namesake brand in 2013, striving to challenge traditional aesthetic standards in the fashion industry with new concepts and art forms, including performance, film, and sculpture.
