It was a beautiful sunny day in Kingston–perfect for shopping local + international brands in a cool, edgy yet chill setting. It was one of those days where there were many events, but without much hesitation, MoDA Market was where we would be.
As we entered the venue, the layout was somewhat different this year yet quite familiar and we met a few new makers. One of those was Lattecha Willocks, with beautiful hand-made canvas designs and paintings. Just a few steps away was the Jae Jolly booth (who presented at MoDA Runway) who showed off her beautiful, bold color dresses, swimsuits and accessories.
The stand out booth this year (for us) was by Ayanna Dixon and her ASD range of products which featured beautiful Illustrations of her signature pieces as a backdrop and finished with balloons which were a favorite among children [and adults]. Inside were mugs, totes, coloring books, and her signature hand-painted clothing which would make great gifts for even the pickiest people.
We then made our way to the outdoor section of the event which housed the food court, children play area, other designers and live music! This year MoDA Music was added as a new feature and gave upcoming artistes the chance to perform and showcase their talents! It was a whole vibe as everyone in that area was jamming to the beat and really enjoying themselves.
There was a lot to see and do as we made our way to each booth. Thanks to Yello for the refreshing Snowcone and buttery popcorn to keep hunger at bay and also for their interactive photo booth.

With a few locally made items in our Moda Market tote, we boarded the shuttle bus provided and left yet another successful staging of the event.

We have a small favor to ask. People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our article takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.
