Food is very important here at The Haute Lifestyle and we are always on the lookout for new eating spots at home (in Jamaica) and abroad (when we travel).

#Eating Out with Haute : Xiao’s Hibachi and Sushi X Camino Real Mexican Restaurant

Since we are currently on vacation in Nashville, my family and I have been eating out at a few local spots which have simply been amazing and interesting. We ate at Xiao’s Hibachi and Sushi where we experienced live Japanese cooking for the first time. Let me tell you in advance that the wait time was ridiculous! We waited for close to an hour for a table and had to wait until the previous family left and for them to clean up and make way for the new chef. The new chef came in and we were finally seated where we were given menus and the chance to select from their extensive Hibachi menu. I selected Terraki Shrimp with Fried Rice which also came with a mushroom + escallion “soup”, salad and fresh vegetables which also had the teriyaki sauce incorporated. I liked that for all the meals no MSG or weird seasonings were used and the only thing added was salt and pepper + teriyaki sauce. This restaurant had a lot of excitement! The chefs had us entertained with his knife yielding skills, egg flipping and tossing and of course the sudden burst of flame on the grill which was the highlight of the show that took us by surprise where we all “‘oohed” and “awed” in amazement.

The food was great and the service was good though the wait time was slow.

I gave this Restaurant a 7/10 just for the wait time as it was waaay too long. It is family friendly and a great place to eat out.

Camino Real Mexican Restaurant

This was one of our most recent eating spots as we just went there yesterday to celebrate a birthday. Here the wait time was literally 5 minutes and we were soon seated — the decor style is reminiscent of a 1500 Spanish style with modern hints. It was definitely beautiful and well lit!

The first things that came were chips and salsa! As a Jamaican, I’m used to well-seasoned meals so the chips were a bit bland and the salsa cold! Not too long after that came the warm, cheese dip which was a hit at the table as it went really quickly.

” There aren’t many things that warm the heart like a hot plate of Mexican food, and Camino Real has excelled at providing just that for over 20 years”

My meal of choice was Shrimp Tacos which were served on Flour Tortillas, Rice, Coleslaw and Fresh Salsa. Clearly, I’m low-key obsessed with Shrimp as I’m a picky eater and this is one of the few things I actually eat. It was well-cooked — not rubbery or uncooked, just actually cooked and well seasoned. The only thing that took me off guard was the fact that the taco came dry! There was no cheese or any type of sauce just the shrimp between the tortilla and the other stuff on the side. Duh! it went with the other stuff on the plate but those tasted better by themselves excluding the fresh salsa.

Our server Gonsalvo was extremely courteous and made our time there really comfortable. I gave this Restaurant a 10/10 for food, atmosphere, and overall experience.

If you are having a Birthday this is a great place to eat as they do a really nice FREE Mexican Dessert and a really cool Happy Birthday celebration.
