The highly anticipated Style Week event known as Fashion Block was last Saturday held in the busy streets of New Kingston.
The usually popular and highly traversed Knutsford Boulevard was converted in a catwalk that stretched for mile and miles where a runway was expertly placed in the middle of the street. Getting the vibes started was veteran Jamaican DJ Kurt Riley who knew the right songs to play to get the audience in high spirits and the event was again hosted by Jamaican Radio personality “Jerry D” who also provided comedic relief for the night and occasional Top Male Model
On the Runway were some of Saint International Top Models who walked for over 14 Designers: Reve Jewellery & Accessories, Shades of Africa, Nina, Janseen Graham, Christoph Copeland, Zinnijah, Demoy Beckford, Rushane Simmonds, Lucien Harrison, Oshane Hines, Rico Vassel, Premiere Gentleman, Juven Dunn, T&T Fashions ft Neahlis and Pebbles King.
This year there were more young male designers than there were female designers but the stand out collections of the night was as follows: Shades of Africa by Tanya Cameron who is known for her wearable Afro-centric designs that showed that Afro prints can be worn on a number of occasions.
Representing for the Male Designers was Premier Gentleman by Andre Stephens who made his Style Week 2019 debut. Andre’s collection featured well designed fitted suits with bold colors and prints with the standout piece being a floral suit and even a bold suit made from lace.

We especially loved the collection by TNT Fashions that featured her signature fun, bold Afrocentric pieces that had us in a modern-day “wearable” Wakanda vibe which were paired with accessories by fellow Fashion Designer and Celebrity Hairstylist, Neahlis.
The collection by Pebbles King also stood out to us for her dramatic pieces that featured beautiful flowy dresses with a dramatic train, leather and lace pieces and the beautiful lime green leather dress with sheer sleeves.
Newcomer Juven Dunn did not disappoint with the debut of her first collection which she named “Esoteric” which showcased the art of fashion which is perfect for the individual who refuses to follow fashion trends. This collection featured a mix of pieces to create one garment which also had fun colors and fun looks!
Style Week for us at Haute People ended at Fashion Block which did not disappoint! We were especially happy to know that there were many young Jamaican Designers who got the opportunity to showcase their talents this year.
Kudos to the Saint team who is constantly living up to their mantra of “Changing Lives, Expanding Horizons”
We have a small favor to ask. People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our article takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.
