It was 3 days before Christmas and all through the house — Madame Haute was scouring trying to find her favorite Blouse!
It is officially that time of the year when I take a look back at all the things the Blog has accomplished and check off all the things we set out to do for 2019! This was indeed an interesting year where I can say I’ve experienced tremendous growth in all it’s truest forms — growth as you know it is not comfortable but completely necessary as it takes you to that next level!
I set out to return to NYFW in February which I did and this time I was on time for all the shows .. except for one that was a private showing in one of Elizabeth Taylor’s Houses on 57th Street (I think) but I got there just in time to meet the Designer and was gifted a cool T-Shirt from his line and the encouragement to keep going and always put my best self forward. In this same breath, I was named the Kingston Ambassador for Fashion Mingle, the company that is my link to NYFW and other amazing Fashion Opportunities. This means I have the hook-up to events that Fashion Mingle is a part of if you are a member of the Fashion and Creative Industry!
span style=”font-size: large;”>For Style Week this year, I got to collaborate with a local Boutique who loaned me outfits for all the shows! As a Blogger, once you get photographed in an outfit. that’s pretty much it for that outfit. Instead of buying an outfit that will hang in my closet, the Boutique loaned me clothing in exchange for promotion on the Blog and Social Media which went well! (Blog post on this coming soon)
I also finally did a video series on my IGTV for Social Media Week in Spring which I hope to officially register Kingston as a city and plan a few events accordingly (nuh bodda tief my idea). If you also have this idea, let’s collaborate!
Next, I overcame my fear twice by doing Video content for a Gospel event and was asked to speak on a panel by Kingston Creative. These events allowed me to explore another side of content creation that I actually love and I believe with practice and preparation I will be even better in 2020 and onwards.

I was asked to judge the Mr & Miss Law pageant for the 2nd year which was exciting! It’s so nice to get to do things like these and still be a part of the University of The West Indies though I graduated in 2011. It was again a great experience and I always look forward to doing positive things with that Institution.
We continued on a positive trend by going to a few of our favorite events and saying goodbye to the events that no longer served us as they were not in line with our vision and goals! Sometimes, more often than not, it’s good to say goodbye to things that no longer suit us. We were also able to secure a collaboration with a cool event in Jamaica that is one of it’s kind and filled with purpose… more on this in 2020.

On a personal note, I changed careers which was scary as I felt like I was getting older and need stability. With all the changes and new laws in Blogging and YouTube, I think it’s important to also have a career so when things go south you are not left hanging. This was something I experienced with Glam Media when they went bankrupt! There will be a whole blog post on that as this was something that hurt a lot of creators. It was pretty much a Big company that represented a lot of Bloggers worldwide that was hard to be a part of ( I got in after 3 tries) and they paid really, really well.
I was also able to go back to school and is currently working on being a certified Digital Marketer which will help me as a Blogger and also an entrepreneur. It has not been easy balancing work and school as the material for the class is quite hefty and work requires a whole lot.
I was finally able to relax and take a much-needed break from Blogging which has been bittersweet as I’ve never taken a break from Blogging! I remember Wendy Williams always saying “People who take breaks get replaced” and I’ve since lived with that mantra. In 2020, we will be back to our regular schedule with new and exciting forms of content!
Looking back, this is not half of the things we did this year but I’m forever grateful and thankful for all the opportunities and for all the people who believe in me and keep giving me these opportunities.
Thank you for the continued support in 2019 and we look forward to growing with you in 2020.
We have a small favor to ask. People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our article takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.
If everyone who reads our posts, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure.
For as little as $1, you can support The Haute Lifestyle
