National Chair Day is October 24!

Well cushioned chairs are very important, not only for rest but also to enhance spaces so they can glow and exude comfort. Between seven and 15 years after purchase, it is highly recommended that chairs and sofas be replaced as they reach their respective lifespans. Replacing chairs will assist the human body with maintaining a good posture, eventually leading to better health and wellness.

Now, as we count down the days to National Chair Day on Thursday, October 24, during this peak season, the Ashley Furniture HomeStore has six tips to share about signs you need to look out for to replace your chairs or sofas.

  1. Evident sagging or lumping

Shapeshifting, drooping cushions, lumps, or malformed seat padding are some of the early warning signs. It’s time for a replacement if the comfort and support of your sofa are deteriorating and it’s no longer as comfortable as it once was. This could be the result of internal springs or foam breaking down.

  1. Continuous squeaking or creaking noises

When you sit down or move about in your chair or couch, it may be indicating that the joints, screws, or springs are worn out. This indicates structural degradation that jeopardizes your furniture’s lifetime and your safety.

  1. Fading and discoloration

Fabric can fade or change colour with regular wear and exposure to sunshine. Although coverings and cushions can be changed, noticeable fading frequently indicates that the upholstery and fabric are nearing the end of their useful lives.

  1. Unpleasant odours or allergies

Over time, dust, allergies, and smells can build up on fabric chairs and couches, which may be difficult to remove with simple washing. It might be time for a change if your furniture is causing allergies or if there is an odour that won’t go away.

  1. Loss of comfort

If you can no longer feel as comfortable sitting on your couch or chair, it’s probably because the padding or cushions are worn out. This lack of support may affect your general well-being and posture in addition to your level of comfort. Lifelong problems and medical emergencies may result from this.

  1. Redecorating or in the mood for something new

A fresh set of furniture can transform the look and feel of your home, making it more inviting and stylish. As your tastes evolve, updating your furniture allows you to express your style and create a cohesive aesthetic.

Upgrading your furniture can enhance the overall appeal of your home, potentially increasing its resale value if you decide to sell in the future.
