Christmas is just a few days away and is the one day that most children look forward to all year.
Whether it’s gifted, getting to see their favourite relatives, or in some areas, the community Christmas Treat!
Paramount Trading Brings Christmas Cheer to the Waltham Park Community
The community of Waltham Park had something to look forward to this year in the form of the annual “Christmas Treat” coordinated by Paramount Trading Jamaica Limited located at 39 Waltham Park Road. The event which has been on hiatus since 2019, due to the Pandemic, was bigger and better this year thanks to the support of sponsors, employees, and volunteers.
The company’s location was perfect for this year’s staging as it had ample space to host community members who started filing into the venue after 12 pm to check out what was happening. The vibe for the day was a mix of high energy and interaction that was perfect for the entire family.
The day got started at the exciting Science Corner by Operations Manager, Angel Hernandez and member of staff Theo Stephens who invited children to participate in scientific experiments. This was a big hit as they were amazed at each experiment which were expressed by the “oohs” and “awes’‘ after each activity.
Food, face painting, music, rides, and balloon animals were just a few of the other activities that helped create a memorable fun-filled family day for children and parents alike.
We caught up with Mr. Hugh Graham, CEO of Paramount Trading, who spoke fondly about the treat:

“This Christmas Treat is very important to us the staff of Paramount; whether it’s 100 of us or 120 plus external volunteers, we come together to treat the children of the Waltham Park area. It is Christmas, so we start Christmas for them, so other than rides and bounce-a-bout and all of that, there are things like bicycles, dolls, and firetrucks that we give to the children, we ask them simple questions and they’ll get a prize”.
“Last year, we collapsed the event into a COVID-19 Blitz, and in 2019, we didn’t have the event but we are back now and are looking forward to the children having a good time. We are looking forward to really treating the children and being their Santa Claus”.

In the spirit of community, one resident described Mr. Graham as “A kind man who loves children” :
“A nuff a wi from the community have a work because of Mr. Graham, anything him do fi the community I will be there to help any way mi can, is a good man”.
The Paramount Trading Christmas Treat is like no other as in addition to the activities, there was the main stage hosted by Fyah105 which started the second segment of the day. There was a fun dance-off where children went head to head to popular hits like Ding Dong’s “Stir Fry” where the winner was given a prize.

A Christmas treat would not be complete without toys and there was more than enough to go around as no child went home empty-handed! There was something for everyone regardless of age or gender and there were bigger toys like Bicycles and Scooters that were given to children who answered a question correctly or were the winner of a challenge.
The company is the perfect example of what it means to have a business that is people focused and rooted in being socially and culturally aware of the people in the community who truly matter. If 2022’s event is this spectacular, we are anticipating that the 2023 staging will be even bigger and better.
