It’s almost time for the Emmy’s and were are as excited as you are to see the list of the select few who were deemed worthy of the coveted Award.
Among this list, is the new and super funny TV Comedy Series Abbott Elementary! This uber funny show features; A group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal — find themselves thrown together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. What makes the thing interesting is the way they break the 4th wall and constantly make eye contact with the camera and engage the audience in their shenanigans.
Just a few months ago there was a bit of controversy surrounding this show since it features an all-black cast in an all-black “fictitious school” and airs on ABC Network! You’ll have to do a bit of research to learn about all the challenges this show faced from critics from various communities. Fast-forward to just a few months later and the show’s writer and conceptualiser Quinta Brunson is already reaping the rewards of her hard work and determination.
A big congratulations go out to Jamaican-born Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph who was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Though Hulu did well in the comedy nominations with The Great, which has two seasons on the streamer, and Only Murders in the Building, which is in its second season, Gomez’s snub stands out. The 29-year-old series executive producer is the only member of the show’s leading trio not to get the individual acting nod. If the show focuses on other crimes after recently being renewed for a third season, it could start with Gomez getting robbed.

With 171 drama series on the Emmys ballot, snubs were inevitable. Paramount+’s hit Yellowstone, which has evolved into a whole Yellowstone Cinematic Universe thanks to co-creator Taylor Sheridan, came up wanting in terms of nominations. Not even the show’s lead actor Kevin Costner got a nod.
This Is Us was also all but forgotten in its final season, with only a nomination for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and not so much as a consolation Crockpot.
