As the world regains some semblance of normalcy, the Fashion Industry rejoices! For us, this means physical shows and we finally get the chance to see what our favorite designers have in store for us after being away for two years!
France’s Golden Boy Simon Porte Jacquemus Is back in all his splendid glory with his ready-to-wear Fall 2022 Collection. For my readers who might not be familiar with the term:
Ready-to-wear is the term for ready-made garments, sold in finished condition in standardized sizes, as distinct from made-to-measure or bespoke clothing tailored to a particular person’s frame.
Jacquemus Ready to Wear Fall 2022 Collection
The Designer is known for his off-the-rack pieces that are highly sought after and quickly sell out after his presentations. His most recent show takes us to the Camargue park in the South of France for his fall 2022 collection. On the Guestlist were international buyers, press, stylists, and models arriving through the Avignon station hours before the show. This location is quite similar to that of his 2019 presentation where large limestone and other rocks provided the perfect backdrop for his signature all-white looks!
Between the mountains of salt, Jacquemus had carved out a runway that wound down a hillside. His models descended from the top of the mount, their trains whipping in the wind, their tulle veils blowing up into clouds, looking like extras in a Karl Lagerfeld costumed version of Dune. – Vogue.com
The collection started with a white futuristic look then transitioned into chocolate browns, then creams that all tell the tale of the transitions through the seasons! The pieces give off the vibe of a dystopian society where everyone dresses the same, yet the looks are similar and it presents an interesting juxtaposition between structured and relaxed.
At 61 looks, that white page of ideas filled up quickly. Shearling coats, puffer vests, and cargo pants are what Jacquemus does best for men, and here he had loosened up the shapes for a more serene spirit, adding his new Humara sneaker in collaboration with Nike.- Vogue.com
For women, his simplest ideas are best, like a white tulle midi dress with a piece of burlap-colored canvas tied around its front for a pure, maidenly look. Jacquemus’s body-baring pieces are a good counter to the Lycra cling-couture of other Parisian houses: the diaphanous white dress Mica Arganaraz wore is unimpeachably pretty—even if Arganaraz had to stop mid-runway to remove her uncomfortable heels. Luxe ball skirts over trousers and a little white tulle explosion coming out the side of a black tuxedo dress added a little swoosh to the Jacquemus strut.- Vogue.com
According to Simon when asked about the collection:
“I started working on the collection with the obsession to restart from nothing, like a white page,”- Simon Porte Jacquemus
Fashion season is definitely back in full swing and we are excited to see what the other designers have In-store.
Let me know if you like any of the pieces from the collection and how and where you would wear these.
