Everything you need to know about the Jacquemus L’Amour Collection

French Fashion Designer Simon Porte Jacquemus known for his eponymous fashion label “Jacquemus” recently hosted his first physical Fashion Show since the Pandemic.

The show saw 100 hand-selected guests in attendance where they witnessed his Spring/Summer 21 (SS21) Collection dubbed as “L’ Amour” — held in the heart of the countryside in a Wheat Field just an hour from Paris. What’s the big deal you might ask? Many feared the fashion show was premature and simply just too soon, in light of the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in Paris. Jacquemus, on the other hand, feels it’s in line with his brand strategy which always involves a Fashion show with a unique concept as he’s selling a story and a feeling rather than just “clothing”

“It was important to have a show because it’s at the heart of our brand; our strategy revolves around the moment,” Jacquemus told us before the show, admitting that it was almost a question of survival in this period of uncertainty. “It’s a magical moment, we couldn’t have done without it and we all needed it.”

Everything you need to know about the Jacquemus L’Amour Collection

The L’ Amour Collection is described as poetic and romantic and featured his signature neutral tone pieces that were structured, whimsical, and of course dresses and suits! It was simple yet sexy, playful + youthful. Vogue describes the collection as :

A succession of pretty, simple, but always sexy dresses, showing off some skin here and there, glamorous drapes of monochrome white, pale yellow and black, retro-inspired suits, very nineties-style cuts of arty variations on the shirt, the slip dress, or new playful accessories like the hamper bag as a nod to picnics in the fields. A collection which, remaining modest, constitutes a collector’s little work of art, summer essentials filtered through mineral, powdery and luminous tones, sometimes dotted with rhinestones reimagined as little pasta shells (again a nod to the picnic) … A wardrobe without frills, where each garment alone is enough to evoke a new generation of illuminated luxury.

We here at Haute People are BIG supporters of Parisian brands and French culture in general and think it was a great concept and a great risk. We are sure Jacquemus and his team took all the necessary precautions to safeguard themselves and the guests. Besides, a show of this caliber would have needed a permit of some sort from the City which we’re sure he got.

Jacquemus Bag

Equally, a small Jacquemus bag containing a beige canvas mask, a little bottle of Alice in Wonderland-like hand gel, and a bottle of water were given to everyone before the show.

Let us know what you thought about the L’Amour Collection and if you feel it’s too soon for brands to have Physical Fashion Shows.
