“the natural home of the short-video format so prevalent in today’s media landscape”. 

The online video sharing platform now has 2 billion active users, One billion hours of YouTube content viewed per day and ss of December 2018, YouTube installed on 5 billion Android devices, just to give you an idea of how popular the platform is. In recent years, YouTube localized to 91 countries and is now accessible in 80 different languages which saw an increase in more International Creators. This saw a rise here in Jamaica where more Creators were joining the platform as members to share portions of their lives.

She is a 20 something female living in Kingston navigating her way around the city as she embarks on her journey from University to being an Entrepreneur.  If you love relatable videos that show “real life” you will love her videos.  She does a mixture of Vlogs and “Sit-Down” videos where she shares her experiences and tips on how to make major life changes like ” How to purchase your first car” and “How to Rent Your First Apartment”.

2. Octavia B

Jamaican YouTubersOctavia is a Jamaican-born YouTuber who now resides in New York who is on the path of minimalism. Her content is centered around Lifestyle where she showcases her Style through hauls, Hair Videos, and her famous Cooking videos where she hosts a mix of Jamaican and American Cuisine. 

During the pandemic, her channel has seen steady growth due to her consistency and dedication to the channel. If you are an “Adult about the Business” you will love this channel as there is no fluff or gimmicks, just a real girl going to work and balancing her YouTube channel. Jamaican YouTubersNicky is the “New Girl” on the block and you can’t help but love her content as her personality is truly sweet! The first video that caught my attention was “A Day in My Life| Jamaican Lawyer”. There is something I find so interesting about people who are able to balance their Careers with YouTube! It’s truly refreshing! 

Nicky is a girly girl who loves fun colorful outfits that is an extension of her personality! She is passionate about Home Decor where she showcases her pristine “Modern Boho Apartment” for which she shows unique DIY pieces in her space!

Jamaican YouTubersIandra is what you simply describe as “Wife Material”! She is young and takes care of her home as she cooks and cleans and of course, provides entertaining content! The thing that drew me to her channel is her level of maturity and wisdom she shares with her subscribers! I am a supporter of a woman who is not afraid to show that she is the Queen of the home and there is nothing wrong with loving your partner and ensuring you do your part to make his life better.

As the girlfriend of the hilarious RazabladeTV, you know there will be a few pranks and challenges just to keep things entertaining. She is consistent, dedicated, and knows how to keep her audience engaged.

5. Meet the Mitchells

The Mitchell’s are relatively new to YouTube and feature former International Music Superstar Tami Chin Mitchell and her Singer/ Songwriter Husband Wayne and their 3 kids Jaxen, Atlas and Oz, Wayne’s brother Alex and their beloved Nanny, “Momo”.

Each day, they let us into their lives where we see everything from Tami balancing work-life with mom-life and Wayne trying his hand at being a Handyman where he has been dubbed as ” D I Wayne”  in full “Handyman Gard” inclusive of Earmuffs.  In all the daily happenings, Atlas always emerges as the star of the show as we live for his witty comebacks and explanation to just about everything he does.

Watching the Mitchells is like enjoying Chilled Lemonade on a Hot Day as it’s just refreshing and completely relatable.
